Catching up since Father's Day......

MONDAY JUNE 16
So, Father's day happened. Mon. morning Ben started 2 weeks of MWF Swimming class with the city Parks & Rec. He's had a great time working on all the different strokes.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 18-FRIDAY JUNE 20

My brother Chris popped down to visit for a few days from Washington, so we crammed as much family time in those days as we could. He watched the kids practice for Joseph (he endured it, even though he's not a great fan of Andrew Lloyd Weber), we all went up to my sister Kathy's for the day on Thurs. and had birthday cake for Cami's birthday, then on Fri. we trekked out to the beach to escape the 110 deg. heat wave (ugh).

It was a gorgeous day at Oxnard State Beach. We stayed a few hours, then went downtown for lunch and some shopping. It was nice to be out of the heat for a little while anyway.

Chris left Sat. morning while I was taking Ben to his first tennis lesson, and we were racing up to Quartz hill for Uncle Jay's little memorial service & lunch. I had left a few important items at Kathy's house on Thurs., so after we left Mark's Aunt Joy's house we bopped a little further up the freeway back to her house to retrieve them. Later that evening, the girls had an extra Joseph rehearsal at the dance studio, and we were finally done for the day....yay!!

ITS TIME FOR..........

Here is where the blog falls into a black hole...............from Sun June 22 - Sun June 29. Every night was a rehearsal, with dress rehearsals Wed. and Thurs., and the 1st performance on Fri. morning. I helped backstage every rehearsal, and every show except the one I got to go see on Sun afternoon. Whew!! It was an AMAZING show. I don't have pictures at present, but it was a lot of fun and a lot of work. I was one of the army of parent volunteers working backstage. I was one of the lead chaperones for the 4th - 6th grade group, and I worked 5 of the 6 performances. The kids had it easy.....they only had to do 3 of them! It was a lot of shushing, lining kids up, getting costumes on them, making sure they were lined up for their cues....etc. etc. Like herding cats. Very loud cats. Ben and the girls did a great job, and Ben's costume for the Potipher duet was so cute (I'll have to scrounge a picture somewhere). It was just an exhausting fun time, and the show was incredible!

And that brings us to the end of June. Vacation is coming! We're planning on going to San Diego.........fun times ahead!
