APS promotion, and H2 approaching 15!!

The "Official" schoolyear is over. APS promotion night was Fri. the 13th, and it went perfectly well in spite of it's inauspicious date. The Hooligans dutifully marched across the stage to get their promotion certificates, Kendra was honored with a christian character award for PE (they pick 2 or so kids each quarter that stand out), and I started stressing out in advance thinking about next year when Kendra would actually be graduating. Anyway, now they can buckle down and get their few courses finished that didn't quite get done.

Yesterday was spent making trips to the post office to get Kendra's passport application sent. Yes, trips (plural). It was rather a comedy of errors. First, I forgot that the Newhall Post Office didn't process passports on Saturday. Then I realized I had put down the wrong eye color for Kendra on the form. Then we went all the way to the Valencia post office, where I realized I had used up all my checks (long story), so I had to go all the way home to get a new checkbook and come back. I am well aware of where my children get their "ditzy" genes, thats for sure. But the dirty deed is done.

I took Cami, her friend Ariel, and Kendra "out" that afternoon for Cami's birthday "fling" a week in advance. Poor Hooligan 2's birthday always seems to fall in the middle of ultra busy-ness, so we are left to "wing it". This year on her actual birthday (the 21st) we will be spending the morning/afternoon with Mark's aunt and family in Quartz Hill for his Uncles memorial service. After we get back from that, the girls have an extra "Joseph" rehearsal in the evening. We'll have to reschedule cake-n-present time, but meanwhile the girls had a fun afternoon of lunch and ice skating *this* weekend!

Beautiful hooligan 2 - almost 15!

FATHER'S DAY!!

Last but not least, tonight (Sunday) Cami had her year end violin recital at which she played beautifully, if I do say so myself. I managed to capture a bit of her first song with the video feature on our digital camera......it's not like a good movie camera, but oh well. Better than nothing! Cami plays the melody first, then they switch, and she plays the harmony. It cuts off early.....wahhh! She played another song after this which was equally amazing (I'm not biased....really!). Not bad for a little over 2 years.

I love this piece.....Vivaldi is beautiful!

We had a nice Father's day as well. There was a SS class potluck, so Mark got "good" food for lunch - Ha! The kids gave him their card and present (2 Pink Panther movies) when we got home. After Cami's recital we went with Mom and Dad Carson over to Wendys for dinner.
