Mark and I duly noted 19 years of marriage on Tues. We went out for dinner last Fri. night, and went to see "Iron Man" Tues. night. We generally see a movie at a theater about 3 times a year: New Years day, our anniversary, and when Darryl is here. It's hard to believe that next year will be #20! Time flies when you're having fun! God has been so faithful to us in every way.
This was the first week of no AWANA.....ahhhhh......! I do love AWANA, but its nice to have a break for the summer. Lets see....what else have we been up to this week? School, of course. The kids are getting excited because Uncle Darryl (friend uncle, not real uncle) is coming next weekend, and that means FUN, MOVIES, DISNEYLAND!!!!!! Ben has enthusiastically attacked his new AWANA book. He got his Excellence award this year for finishing 2 T&T books, but is a book behind, and he REALLY wants to catch up this summer. He also has 1 last judged piano event on Sat., so he's had to buckle down this week and get last minute spiffing done on his piece. He's been a real trouper this year in his music. I actually sat down and counted it all up....he will have done 5 different judged events this year (Sonatina competition, Cert. of Merit, Bach festival, CAPMT festival, Theme recital) , 3 or so general MTAC recitals, and 2 studio recitals (with just his teacher's students). Heh...his teacher definitely pushed him into deeper water. But all for the good. He needs to be challenged, and he always rises to the occasion. All that to say: he'll get a well deserved rest from "serious" practice this summer, and it will be nice to successfully finish that last event. And now some low key pictures from today.....
A Nature Moment.......
Ben was so excited to see a bird's nest up in the rafters of the carport. He sneaked a photo of it. I'm not sure what kind of birds they are, but there are evidently chicks in the nest.
Hanging out with a hooligan pig!
Favorite hooligan reading material...........
.........Users Manual for the Pirates computer game. Actually, he loves reading anything technical, and strongly dislikes reading anything historical or biographical. Sigh.....he didn't get MY genes, thats for sure. Yep. Give him chess books, almanacs, game instructions, user manuals, appliance booklets, travel brochures, and the like, and he's a happy camper. Pure fiction & fantasy are ok too. But historical fiction & biography??? Forget it. As I said......ain't my genes.
