Reedly Mt. (sort of a mt. anyway)
Well, we made the traditional trek up to Reedly (south of Fresno) for Mark's family's Easter bash. It's a big "whoever shows up" type picnic at the farm of Mark's cousin (Keleen) and her husband (Harlan), and the weather was especially beautiful this year. We usually go to church in Visalia, where we have a few friends that we rarely see, like the Carey's. Mark knows the family from waaaay back, and this is Barbara Carey who was one of my favorite roomates in college. We got along great, being that she has hooligan tendencies also (evidenced by the fact that 1. she dated my current, very hooligan, brother-in-law for a spell, and 2. kept a pet tarantula). Whatever the case, it was a blessing to be able to celebrate Christ's resurrection, with plenty of "He is risen!"s and "He is risen indeed!"s sprinkled throughout the service. A time to remember that we serve a RISEN savior.
There was an easter egg hunt of sorts after the service, and somehow Ben managed to find the Golden Egg -- literally! It had a 1$ bill in it! Score!
We spent the afternoon enjoying family, eating lots of good food, petting all the dogs (around 9 or 10 total (including Flint's dogs, and other families who brought their dogs), and playing around. One of the cousins actually flew in! There is a little airstrip about a mile away from the farm, and her boyfriend flew with her in his little airplane from nearer the coast. They buzzed the farm when they left, and we all waved at them. We missed Mark's parents this year, and were sad to not get to see them. They usually come down, but ended up having to stay home.
Family, Food, Fun!
