So, since H3's auspicious 12th birthday the Hooli-blog has certainly been languishing. In the interest of perseverance, however, lets get things a little more up to date. Life continues at breakneck speed. Homeschooling all the different sized hooligans continues, interrupted by numerous projects, activities and events.

Ben has been mucking about with stop motion animation this fall, so he's had fun making little movies (I use the term VERY loosely!!) with his lego creations.

PE coop with our homeschool group is in full swing. Ben has enjoyed basketball and flag football so far this fall. Here's a pic of H3 lounging in the beautiful warm weather, and another of all the 4th-6th graders that are in the PE coop. Ben is way in the back next to the tree, and has his eyes closed.......typical boy! He has a great time every week with his friends.

My birthday slid on in there as well. We didn't have any real parties or anything, but Mom and Dad took me to Baja and gave me a nice card. My sweet son said Happy Birthday to me first on the actual day, gave me a big hug (awwww!), then just sat down at the piano and played this for me .....
If you've watched enough Veggie Tales you'll know the song right off. For all the uninitiated, here are the lyrics:
I thank God for this day,
For the sun in the sky,
For my mom and my dad,
For my piece of apple pie!
For our home on the ground,
For His love that's all around,
That's why I say thanks every day!
Because a thankful heart is a happy heart!
I'm glad for what I have,
Thats an easy way to start!
For the love that He shares,
'Cause He listens to my prayers,
That's why I say thanks every day!
.....Now this certainly isn't the best improvisation he's ever done at the piano, but It was very sweet and spontaneous! I tried to film it the first time he did it, but couldn't sneak in there fast enough. He was kind and played it again for me so I could get the clip :o).
Roaches to roses......life in a nutshell!

He also got me a card ("I picked it out myself, with Dad!") that was pretty and flowery. The hooligan sisters were teasing him about the frilly card, but I told them to zip it! After I opened it, and gave appropriate exclamations of appreciation, I said "I'll put it up here so I can look at it..." and set it up on the top of the bookshelf in the entryway. Just as I set it down and stepped away, I noticed what was sitting next to it (hee hee). It was definitely a "yep, thats my life in a nutshell" moment. Roaches to roses and everything in between right here at Hooligan Central! Gave me a good chuckle.
