Yes, not the happiest of days, technically, but we are happy that we have Hooligan Dad back from his deep dark office cave where he hibernates 1/4th of the year with all the other poor accountants. I'm a bit behind updating the blog, so here are some random vignettes from the last few weeks. Again, it appears that the young hooligan ladies of the family have been avoiding the camera. I apologize officially for the seeming unfairness of it all, but such is life.
Ben enjoying his favorite subject....

unfortunately he especially likes the part of science that involves making glorious, exciting, wonderful messes. Messes of the sort that *I* get roped into A) helping set up, B) helping clean up. Ain't science grand? I have, over the years, I admit, been a member in good standing of HENSE (Home Educators Neglecting Science Experiments), but this photo is actual proof that not ALL is lost in this area.
Caught in the act!
I caught Ben enjoying his Bach....he didn't know I was behind him. There he was, happily playing away in his jammies, oblivious to the world around him. I love these moments!
"Mike Teevee, Mrs. Bucket, and Mrs. Salt"

Actually it's our good friends the Johnsons, who were in the Canyon Theater Guild production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Brian played Mike TV, Mikayla played Mrs. Bucket, and Sarah played Mrs. Salt (you know....Veruca's mother.....eeeewwww). We drive Sarah and Mikayla up to AWANA in Acton most Wed. nights, and Kendra and Cami drive home with them. We got to go see the last performance they did, and it was so much fun. They all did a great job.

Ben was desperate to get his picture with "Mike TV" (aka Brian).
Jr. Bach Festival!

Ben did a great job, played his best, and had a wonderful time. He has learned so many valuable lessons in process of studying music. The practicing isn't always fun, but for THIS particular hooligan, performing is a blast!
Mrs. Peterson & Ben

This is Ben's amazing, fabulous, incredible, ........well, she's just the best......piano teacher! Anyone who can teach a hooligan (especially this one) for 4 years week in and week out, and still enjoy it, ranks way up there in my book. I am SO thankful to the Lord for this wonderful teacher who loves my (admittedly quirky) son for who he is. She was an answer to prayer, and is continuing evidence that God always provides above and beyond what we can even ask or think!
Sunday night recreation.....(!!!!!!)

So I asked him......."Son.......did you have to spend THAT much time on your knees on the grass?????.........really????!!!!" (pondering more fond moments with the Spray-n-Wash)
"But mom, it wasn't the GRASS'S FAULT! It was the CHLOROPHYLL!" (dramatic pause)......."Someday I'm gonna invent a machine that'll suck ALL the chlorophyll out of the grass!"
And last but not least..........
Cami's good buddy Ariel.....

who we've been carefully training in the fine art of hooligan dining......notice the perfectly placed french fry sticking out of the mouth........I'm sure that in another year or so she'll have mastered the "french fries sticking out of the nose" technique. Ahhhh....another fine few weeks here at hooligan central! Stay tuned!
